You’ve completed the Alternative Tarot Course!
Phew! There’s been a heck of a lot crammed into these eight little chapters. I hope you’re emerging from this tarot-intensive feeling more confident with your cards, more experienced as a reader, and most of all, that you’ve begun to develop your very own, unique approach to tarot.
So where next?
The first thing I want to say is: don’t stop learning. There is no such thing as a tarot ‘expert’. Once you start studying those cards, you remain a student forever.
Keep on working with your cards, keep on reading about tarot, keep on experimenting, keep reading for yourself and your friends… and keep writing. I honestly believe that writing about tarot is one of the very best ways to develop yourself as a tarotist.
If you’re not already a member, head over and join the Alternative Tarot Network
It’s a cosy, friendly online community for tarot lovers and learners where hundreds of people are sharing ideas and questions and generally geeking out about tarot cards, decks, books and everything.
You’ll need a secret code to register – I send these out monthly to my mailing list so make sure you’re on it!
This is my own tarot blog.
It started out in early 2011, a humble tarot journal, just little old me rambling away to myself as I played with my tarot cards. Now, it’s a lively community and a place where I’ve made many friends! There are thousands of visitors each week, plenty of whom keep tarot discussions going in the comments.

Start a tarot group in your area.
This is a great way to meet other tarot lovers, try out different decks and practice reading for others.
- Here’s a little post about a group I set up a few years ago and the things we got up to.
Think about reading professionally.
Okay, you might be a way from this yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t set yourself a goal and work towards it!
- Here’s a post where I share my own journey into professional tarot (and guess what – it all started with a journal!)
